Scientists mobilized around Neurogel, internationally

Since 2005, many scientists have worked with Neurogel en Marche. Teams of researchers work actively for quadriplegics and paraplegics. We present below the most active scientists who have contributed to our project, but we are in constant contact with many other researchers around the world.

Dr. Stefana Carelli

- Laboratory. of Regenerative Medicine, - Pediatric Research Center of the “Romeo ed Enrica Invernizzi” Foundation, - Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences, University of Milan.

Dr. Stephana Carelli participated in the clinical study in China. She activated fat tissue for all patients. She has just developed a new protocol for fat activation as well as a new liposuction protocol. After 8 years of work partially funded by Neurogel en Marche, she has developed a 3D cell growth niche using no chemical or organic culture medium. Doctor Stephana Carelli is involved in our future clinical and preclinical projects.

She collaborates with Professor Patrick Decherchi for studies at the University of Aix-Marseille 2. She presented our first results in  November 2020 during a videoconference meeting with the American foundation Unit 2 fight paralysis.

Professor Alfredo Gorio

Prof. Gorio was Chief Scientist of the Italian National Spinal Cord Injury Program. He is also Director of Clinical Pharmacology IRCCS Humanitas and of the Department of Medicine Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Milan.

Pr. Gorio's activated fat was developed at the University of Milan with his team.

Professor Patrick Decherchi

Teacher-Researcher, director of the “Plasticity of Nervous and Muscular Systems” team (UMR CNRS  6233) at the University of the Mediterranean (Aix-Marseille II).

Prof. Decherchi  carried out a preclinical study in Marseille which aimed to show the regrowth of nerve fibers in NEUROGEL™. This study also combined NEUROGEL™ with a cytokine, erythropoietin, better known as EPO, a key factor in the regeneration of the central nervous system.

In this year 2021 we are conducting, with Pr. Decherchi, a study with activated fat and EPO in rats in the acute and chronic phase of a spinal cord injury.

Dr. Liu Yansheng

Dr. Liu Yansheng, former deputy director of neurosurgery at Kunming General Hospital, performed tens of thousands of operations during his 40-year career. Recognized for his unique expertise in decompression surgery in acute spinal cord injury.

Dr. Liu Yansheng is also a pioneer in the practice of neurosurgery for chronic spinal cord injury and chronic spinal cord injury decompression.

He has received numerous awards, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award, Military Award for Technological Progress, and Yunnan Science and Technology Progress Award, and holds a number of patents for his inventions of neurosurgical instruments.

Dr. Zhu Hui

Dr. Zhu Hui is the founder and first director of the Spinal Cord Injury Treatment Center. She is a member of many academic committees on spinal cord injury research in China and abroad, and has chaired international, national, provincial and military research projects on various topics related to spinal cord injury.

She was the second winner of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second place of the Military Award for Medical Achievement and the first place of the Yunnan Province Science and Technology Progress Award.

She has received outstanding grants from the military for her contributions to improving the diagnosis and treatment of spinal cord injury, disability assessment, rehabilitation training (development of Kunming walking method and Kunming locomotor scale) and care and treatment of complications in spinal cord injuries.

Professor Eva Sykova

Director of the Experimental Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, she was the principal investigator of a preclinical trial under contract with the association. In addition, her laboratory has a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) unit, which allows for cell culture under the conditions required for a human clinical trial.

Dr. Patricia Ferretti

Head of the “Developmental Biology” department at the UCL Neuroscience Institute in London. She and her team work on the culture of human neural stem cells to grow them in NEUROGEL™.

Dr.-Mattia-Colli-1.png

Dr. Mattia Colli

Dr. Mattia Colli from Milan, a renowned plastic surgeon in Italy https://chirurgiaplasticamc.com/. He collaborates with us on preclinical and clinical projects using activated fat. He has developed a specific procedure for liposuction and selection of adipose tissue using a modified Cobra 3.0 cannula.

Dr. Mattia Colli has published the manuscript "Total Submuscular Gluteal Implant Technique." He is also the inventor of the "BackBraid" facelift and neck-lifting technique using an unlimited artificial ligament.

The Scientific Council of the “Neurogel en Marche” association is a body whose mission is to provide scientific and humanitarian support to the association. Its role is to support and accompany the initiatives that the association and the patients wish to undertake, or to suggest the implementation of specific research projects. It is composed of internationally recognized scientific figures, as presented above. It also includes:

Professor MICHAEL SCHUMACHER, research director at INSERM UMR 788 and Paris-Sud University 11 in Kremlin-Bicêtre. He is internationally renowned for his work on neuroprotection and neuroregeneration.

Professor MEHARVAN SINGH, from the Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience at the University of North Texas, USA, and a specialist in progesterone.

Dr. TANGUY MARQUESTE, head of the Laboratory of Physiological Determinants of Physical Activity.
He is a specialist in electrotherapy, electrical stimulation, and physiotherapy.

Professor ÉTIENNE-EMILE BAULIEU, honorary professor at the Collège de France and head of the “Hormone and Genetics” laboratory at INSERM. He is internationally recognized as the inventor of DHEA and the abortive pill RU 486.
