Video showing Gérald’s walking progress
The Neurogel en Marche association informs you that it has improved the surgical protocol by directly injecting EPO into activated fat and by modifying the liposuction procedure thanks to Dr. Mattia Colli, who developed a new, less invasive liposuction technique using a cannula called COBRA 3.0, adapted to each patient’s specific needs.
In December 2022, we enabled four patients—preselected as early as 2018—to benefit from this latest advancement and complete our first study.
In this video, we present the motor progress of one of these patients, with his consent, six months after his operation. His name is Mr. Gérald Peyras, son of our treasurer, who had been motor and sensory paraplegic ASIA-A at the T4 level since 2001.
Motor and sensory recovery appears to be even faster than with our previous trial group.
Bladder control recovery is also noteworthy, as well as the return of deep sensation.
After 20 years of paralysis, this shows that regeneration can occur in a person over 40 years old.
A phase 2 trial in Kunming is still part of our plans, provided we receive the necessary funding.
But our objective has also evolved.
Today, we aim to conduct a clinical trial in France to treat paraplegia and tetraplegia within the first hours following a traumatic spinal cord injury.
We have just completed a first preclinical study at Aix-Marseille University (AMU) within Professor Patrick Decherchi’s team, successfully demonstrating motor recovery in rats when our treatment is applied immediately after a spinal cord injury.
This study will be published at the end of June and will allow us to submit a clinical trial application, which we would like to conduct, for example, at Marseille’s “La Timone” hospital.
Our association fully funded this study, and it continues to employ Dr. Maxime Bonnet to complete another study on the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and ALS.
As you know, we are always seeking funding—whether to complete our current projects or to launch new ones. Every donation helps us move forward. You can visit this page to support us.
Video showing Jimmy’s walking progress
We present to you Jimmy, a patient with ASIA A paraplegia (complete motor and sensory loss) at the T10 level.
After more than 14 years of paralysis, he underwent spinal cord surgery on December 12, 2022, as part of our clinical trial. His motor and sensory recovery has been even faster than that observed in our group of patients operated on in March 2019.
Bladder control recovery is also noteworthy, as well as the return of deep sensation.
Video showing Claire’s walking progress
We present to you Claire, a patient with ASIA A paraplegia (complete motor and sensory loss) at the T11 level.
After 5 years of paralysis, she underwent spinal cord surgery on December 13 as part of our clinical trial.
